This is the site of the  first gun emplacement that was built in 1801 on Middle Head (north of Obelisk Bay) during the Napoleonic wars.

Chowder Bay

Named after whalers who made chowder from the bay's abundant seafood, Chowder Bay is located on the southern side of Sydney's Middle Head peninsula.

Wild Thing

The Sydney to Hobart fancied supermaxi Wild Thing was barred at the last minute due to paperwork issues. Yesterday it was sailing around Sydney Harbour instead off battling the Tasman sea.

Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race

Over the past 67 years, the Rolex Sydney Hobart has become an icon of Australia's summer sport.
From the spectacular start in Sydney Harbour, the fleet sails out into the Tasman Sea, down the south-east coast of mainland Australia, across Bass Strait (which divides the mainland from the island State of Tasmania), then down the east coast of Tasmania.  At Tasman Island the fleet turns right into Storm Bay for the final sail up the Derwent River to the historic port city of Hobart.

This was taken 40 minutes into the race as they pass the mouth of Botany Bay. Very choppy conditions with a large swell to contend with, I do hope they stay safe for the duration of the event.

Merry Christmas Everyone...

I know its not a Sydney photo but its off my tree, and far from picture perfect.
But I needed a photo to post so I could wish each and everyone of you a safe and happy Christmas.
Here in Sydney it is now Boxing Day, still cloudy and damp we had to resort to putting jumpers on yesterday.
How ever you spend this time enjoy it, make memories to last a life time even if only small ones.

Cruising in...

While I was actually working today I turned around to see this cruiseship coming in. It isn't too often you see them coming up the harbour in the middle of the day.

Waiting waiting waiting

As I looked out the window I noticed the line up of trucks waiting to take away their share of dirt to make way for the Barangaroo development.
I really should be spending more time cleaning and less time snapping shots out the window..
Hope your week is traveling along well and your preparations for the silly season going smoothly.

The Cove

I have only looked at this building daily for the past 8 years and for some reason this side of the building caught my eye yesterday.

I need to plan better

A few weeks ago we visited Manly Dam for a walk to find when we turned up a Dragon Boat Regatta was being held.
Yesterday we drove to Cronulla for a walk along the coastline, to find roads closed and Cronulla hosting an all day Cycling Grand Prix.
So once we found a park and made our way pass all the barricades we enjoyed  a lovely walk. The husband has informed me that next time investigate a little about what may be on at the location before we venture out.
I hope you are enjoying your weekend and the lead up to Christmas. Stay safe....

What, Where, How, Why?

1. Rooftop
2. Sydney Opera House
3. Zoomed......
4. Why not and I had nothing prepared for today and this caught my eye. So I thought I would share it with you.

Today in Sydney was lovely temperature wise after the past 2 very very hot days, but it was cloudy and gloomy definitely not getting out exploring type of day.
Hope you have had/having a lovely weekend?

Regular Visitors to My Street.

Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo

These were taken back in August, 50 metres from my front door in the grass parkland that is at the end of my small street.
