1801 Battery


This is the site of the  first gun emplacement that was built in 1801 on Middle Head (north of Obelisk Bay) during the Napoleonic wars.

      A battery of 2 guns and a magazine were built above Obelisk Bay in 1801.
      I would have liked to have gone down to see some of these little bays but they are nudist beaches and seemed to be very popular the other day.
